Purpose
Saturday, March 29th, 2008I got to hang out with some of my best friends in the world last night in south Florida, and it was a blast. Catching up on the old days, talking about where life has taken them, and also our future plans. The occasion is my best friends wedding tomorrow, his name is Bryan Hogan and he and I go way back. I remember hanging out with him one day when we were both in pre-school and his father ran over my bike! Can you believe that? Of course I probably should not have left it laying behind his truck, but it is still his fault, I have gotten over it though. But, that is how far we go back, and we have remained in each others lives ever since, and I am very blessed and thankful for that.
The reason I titled this post Purpose though, is because of a conversation I had with another old friend of mine that I grew up with. It was an awesome conversation. This friend has become so very successful, and it was great to talk about success, books, career, opportunity and all kinds of higher level thinking. He said something that struck me so deeply though and I just have to talk about it here. After sharing with me the fact that he had just had his best year ever financially, he said that the money was great, but that he wants the path of his life to have more meaning, more purpose. He wants to do something that is his, that he is passionate about, that he can wake up every day bounding out of bed because he cannot wait to get back at it. His job right now does not necessarily give him those types of feelings. I felt for him, and all of the other people in this world that have not found there lifes purpose. Fortunately I have. My mission and purpose is to positively impact the lives of millions of people worldwide and to make the world a better place. I am working towards that mission everyday and I am very clear on how to make that vision a reality, through writing #1 New York Times bestselling books, speaking and teaching to people worldwide and creating learning cd’s that I feel convey messages that help others. As Charlie and I spoke, I knew exactly where he was coming from; life is not just about money and the accumulation of goods; to really find fullfillment we must do what we can to know our purpose in life and use every ounce of energy that we have to go about systemastically achieving our mission and our purpose everyday, it is only then that we can feel that we are truly living a very useful life. I know that purpose does not smack you in the face just cause you want it to, you have to find it, seek it, look for it in every crack and crevace of your mind, think about it, meditate on it, pray about it, and in general do some really deep soul searching. Do you know your purpose in life? I hope so, if not maybe my next post will help, for now I gotta go to the rehearsal dinner! From south Florida, cg signing out.
