The Speed of Trust

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Just picked this book up and had to share this with you:

By now I hope that you are convinced that, as I’ve said, nothing is as fast as the speed of trust. Nothing is as profitable as the economics of trust. Nothing is as relevant as the pervasive impact of trust. And the dividends of trust can significantly enhance the quality of every relationship on every level of your life.

BUT…you may be hesitant or fearful when it comes to actually extending your trust to others. Maybe, deep down, you really feel that other people can’t be trusted. Maybe you grew up in a low-trust environment. Maybe you’ve been burned in the past. Maybe no one has ever extended trust meaningfully to you.

I want to show you that, whatever your situation, you can learn how to extend “Smart Trust.” You can develop the competence to extend trust in ways that avoid the pitfalls and ensure the greatest dividends for all concerned. You can also learn how to restore trust when it has been lost, and how to develop the propensity to trust that is absolutely vital to effective leadership and life.

Aside from being personally worthy of trust and knowing how to build trusting relationships on all levels, your ability to appropriately extend trust to others is the single most impactful factor in creating a high-trust environment, both at work and at home.

The first job of a leader is to inspire trust. The ability to do so, in fact is a prime differentiator between a manager and a leader. To inspire trust is to create the foundation upon which all truly successful enterprises-and relationships-stand.

Stephen M.R. Covey, The Speed of Trust

I have only one word at this point, WOW! Thank you Mr. Covey…

Go out and make it an awesome day…cg

P.S. Thank you Harold Ware, you are a genius.

Diamonds are created under pressure…

Hello Super, Awesome and Amazing people in this Universe!

Hope all is well with you in Real Estate sales land and in your pursuit of greatness in your life. The Austin real estate market is definately challenging me to stay focused and to work hard. We are continuously upgrading our successful real estate systems so that we stay on the top of our game. There is never a time where you should stop growing, becoming more innovative and creative in the way that you work. You can grow more dominant right now by stepping up and showing your leadership. I believe that no matter how tough the times get, how high gas prices go, how slow sales become, that we have an opportunity to be the absolute best that we can become. You have to keep your vision, and your mission in front of you, constantly striving for what you want out of life.

All leaders have a dream and a vision for a better future, the vision and the person who has the vision are inseparable. Your heart must beat for the vision. Leaders must mature and they must also have time to strengthen and grow. Gold is purified only after it passes repeatedly through the fire. Diamonds are created only under extreme pressure. Great leaders are formed only through trials and challenging times…..Step Up and work on becoming the leader you were born to be! Now is a better time than ever to be attending training events. I am more focused right now on my own training and personal growth than I have ever been in my life. With fewer leads, fewer sales and more work, there has never been a more important time to be focused on personal growth and your skills and mindset. My entire listing team is in training sessions right now to help us grow and get sharper. As I see weaker agents sitting back worried about the sky falling, I am prospecting, servicing my clients and learning more than I have ever in my life. It is time to step up! If you want to be the best you can be, rise to the occasion and show people what you are made of. Be a leader and create momentum in your life so that when this market comes roaring back you are at the forefront!!!! Become the diamond that you were born to become. Your focused and servant hearted friend…Chad Goldwasser

Incredible…

Wow…what a win for Tiger Woods at the US Open. We have seen what a master looks like and it is him. It is really fun to be wrapped up in the moment and watch history being made, not to mention enjoying it with your two boys.  Mason and Aden Goldwasser were about as excited to watch Tiger as I was. We had a wonderful Father’s day weekend (which happens to be my fathers birthday weekend as well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHIP!) right here in Austin in the pool in the backyard. Now that is what life is all about.

It is so fun to see a person like Tiger Woods really take his game and our enjoyment of it to another level, not to mention Rocco! We can see in these PGA Tour pros a level of golf that is really amazing. I love to play and it is just remarkable to even think of playing to their scores. Their is such an intensity and focus when you reach the pros and we can all take that same approach to our own lives. When you start to reach your potential like these men have you have something to be very proud of. I want to be the Tiger Woods of my industries and become the absolute best that I can become. I want to live a legendary life that will make my family and myself proud. I want to shatter all limits that there are. Congratuations to Tiger, Rocco and all the other champions that were out there, you all inspire me!

Pruning your team…

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Real estate team building is not really easy, even in the great city of Austin, Texas. For that matter, business building in general is not that easy. One of the hardest parts of growing a team and a business, and then growing as leaders will be those times when we have to let people go. That is right, when you have to fire someone, not a great feeling, especially when you love people and you do everything you can to stare at there potential. People have so much potential and opportunity and yet they let things such as their personal lives, attitudes, excuses and all the other hub-bub stuff get in the way of their work. As a leader you will have to face those tough decisions of letting team members go, and you must do it sooner rather than later. If you have a major dream and a major mission and their are people that you have brought on board that are not the right fit to go to the top of the mountain, you must prune them. When you prune a flower, tree or plant it will grow back stronger and so will your team. You may think that it is the end of the world when you lose a team member, but it is not. Remember, you as the leader of your company must make the best decision for the well being of your business and the other team members. If people are not doing there job then you have to prune, and I guarentee as you do you will grow stronger. For all of the people that I have had to let go be successful other places I want you to know I do wish you the absolute best. Make it a Breakthrough Day!    cg

Often the circumstances seem to be instrumental in the creation of great leaders and thinkers, but that is the case only when their attitude is right.      JOHN MAXWELL

You have a choice!

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

I was at my office today prospecting with my inside sales team and one of my agents. As the real estate market in Austin has softened it has pushed me to get back in there and start focusing on the phones, making sure that I am doing my part to convert all the leads that I can. I figured out a long time ago that I have a natural ability to convert inquiries into the office into clients in my car. Over the course of 10 years in sales I have constantly focused on getting better and better at taking an incoming call and turning it into a sale, and on becoming the best salesman that I could become. I realized that I had a choice, that we all have a choice. We have a choice to become the absolute best, or we can chose to be average, natural ability will only take you so far.

Here is what I mean. Today as I was at my office, I was listening to one of my top salespeople handling a call and he did a pretty good job, but I knew he could do better. This guy is a total superstar with a lot of talent and natural ability, but in order to become legendary he needs to refine and focus his energy on becoming the best. His natural ability, even though outstanding, will only take him so far. As I listened to him on the phone I noticed several areas for him to improve and after the call we practiced his script and started talking about him taking his career to the next level. I think he got it. I shared with him, and I will share with you as well, we have to focus on growth everyday. We can never stop growing and changing, and working to be our best everyday. There is no limit to our income if we just make a choice to become the absolute best every single day, keeping our eyes on getting better. You can only get so far on your natural ability. In order to break through your next ceiling you have got to start practicing your scripts, becoming a master objection handler, working on your midset, paying attention to the details of who you are and what you are becoming.

I know for me, to reach the goals that I have set forth for my life I must buckle down and start working harder on who I am and what I do at every juncture of my life. I want to realize my destiny and positively impact the lives of millions of people worldwide. I want to speak to audiences and electrify, teach, and motivate them to do more than they ever thought possible with their lives and in order to reach that potential I must strive for growth everyday.

We have a choice…we can go through our lives and just give what we think we have and be average or we can chose to give life everything we have and become the most incredible people that we can become. We can make a difference in this world by focusing on taking our lives to the highest level poissible. I chose not to be afraid of the vastness of my destiny and you can make that choice too. You can chose to make your life a masterpiece and I hope you do!

see you soon…cg
