My Why

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Hey all. Hope life is awesome and you are keeping your chins up in this challenging time. I know that the media is portraying the world as a total disaster, but we have so much to be thankful for. Do me a favor and spread some positivity today. You have no idea how far a smile, a “hello”, or a kind word can do for someone. Maybe you need one yourself, so here is one from me, “YOU ALL ARE GREAT! YOU PUSH ME AND MAKE ME WANT TO BE BETTER, I LOVE YOU ALL.” I swear I am so motivated to grow right now, I am so focused on staying positive even though my business is going through a tough time (just made my first layoffs ever in the history of my company). It is now that we will create habits that will take us to the next level. This time is here to strengthen me, to strengthen my will, my determintion, my focus, I am strong! You are all strong too! Say it to your self right now, “I AM STRONG!”. It feels good, say it over and over to yourself today, pump yourself up and go make it happen.

I had several requests to share my why with you so here it is:

MY WHY 8/8/04

I am doing what I am doing because God gave me the tools and presented me with the opportunity to make a huge difference in this world. I have the ability to be the best at what I do because I understand it, I have a major passion for it, I am a student of it, and I have absolute and utter  belief in myself and my team. I want my children, my wife, and all of my family to have total freedom of choice to do what they want to do. I want to positively impact the lives of everyone I touch, especially those whom I love the most. I want to give back to those that love me support me and believe in me so that they may live a life they never thought possible. I want to create positive change as much as I can and make the world a better place. I will always strive to the very best I can be. Most of all I want my family to be proud of who I am, and I want to set us totally financially free so that we may live an incredible and happy life.

Keep making it happen. Keep pushing me. If any of you are going to be in Orlando next week for the NAR Convention , please come to my presentation Saturday morning November 8th (next week!) How To Sell 100 More Homes in a Year. I am going to light that place up with power and energy. Please give me all of your positive thoughts and inspiration, so that I may give my most inspired and powerful presentation ever!

I appreciate you all so much. Have an incredible day! And root for the Texas Longhorns this weekend!

Down on yourself….

Read this and be grateful you are not them…thought we could all use a good laugh!

Subject: Darwin Awards

The  2008 Darwin Awards

Yes,  it’s that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honouring the least
evolved  among us.

Here is the glorious winner:

1.  When  his 38-calibre revolver failed to fire at his intended victim
during a hold-up in Long Beach, California, would-be
robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire
wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again.
This time it worked.

And now, the honourable mentions:

2.  The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat-cutting machine and, after a little shopping
around, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company expecting negligence sent out one of its men to have a
look for himself. He tried the machine and he also lost a finger. The chef’s claim was  approved.

3.  A  man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find
a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her.

4.  After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be
transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver
went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental
hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn’t
 discovered for 3 days.

5.  An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he
received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply  trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving
train before he was hit.

6.  A  man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash
drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the  register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the
cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the  counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer…
$15. If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?

7.  Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he’d just throw a cinder
block through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run.  So he lifted the cinder block and heaved it over his head at
the window. The cinder block bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store
window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape.

8.  As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store, a man grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911
immediately, and the woman was able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the police
apprehended the snatcher. They put him in the car and drove  back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and
told to stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, ‘Yes, officer, that’s her. That’s the lady I stole the purse from.’

9.  The  Ann Arbour News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti , Michigan , at 5 A.M.,
flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn’t open the cash register without a
food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said  they weren’t available for breakfast. The man, frustrated,
walked away.

10.  When  a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle street, he got much
more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near
spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal gasoline and plugged his siphon hose into
the motor home’s sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying that it was the best
laugh he’d ever had.

In the interest of bettering mankind, please share these with
your friends and family… unless of course one of these
individuals by chance is a distant relative or long-lost
friend. In that case, be glad they are distant and hope they
remain lost.

My spiritual life….

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

“If you want your team to succeed, then you need to win some battles inside yourself. You cannot win unless you first win WITHIN! Do that, and you put yourself-and your team-in position for victories.”                                    John Maxwell

What an awesome day it is in Austin, Texas. I just got done with an awesome run and I am energized and excited about today, I hope you are as well. I want to share some thoughts with you about my spirituality, I hope you enjoy, if you don’t-to bad!!!! For a long time I have struggled with my relationship with God. I was not raised to be a Christian. I did not go to church, my parents were not particularly religious, we never talked about God in my house, I had no understanding of the bible or Christianity, and so I never found myself to be a believer. I often wanted to believe, and I even claimed to be “born again” at one point, but I truly never had a great relationship with God. I do believe in God, and I am connected to him now, but beyond just that struggle and that relationship I have now found myself to be living a very spiritual and inspired life.

The first time I realized that I was living a spiritual life, was from my therapist! That’s right, the cat is out of the bag, I see a shrink. Not as put together as you all thought HA! She is actually my marriage counselor and I have taken up seeing her on my own some and I find it incredibly helpful. One day we were talking about this struggle that I have had with my belief and she looked at me and said something very profound, she said “Chad you are living your life in a very spiritual way. Your drive to positively impact people, your goal to be a great father, a great husband and a great leader, is a spiritual type of life.” Wow, what an incredible eye opener this was for me. I now realize I am living a totally spiritual life. I do have a better relationship with my God than I have ever had before in my life and I am also living a more spiritual existence than I ever have lived. I am fulfilling my purpose and my destiny every single day, and that is spiritual in itself. Let me share with you what I mean and how I believe I am being spiritual each day and maybe it will help you to be more spiritual and not just with praising your god. Now, please understand I am a very simple man, so do not judge me for the simplistic nature of my thoughts and ideas, if you do not like them then do not read them, I will just share what works for me, unfiltered, straight out of my brain to you. Here you go.

1.      I wake up every day looking to be my best.  Part of my spirituality comes from me wanting to be my absolute best every single day. When you wake up just want to do the best that you can, you will feel good about yourself, because that is really all we can ask of ourselves is to do our very best, each and every day. If you go through your life focusing on what you didn’t do, or focusing on how much more it seems others are doing you will never be happy. Being happy lifts your “SPIRIT” and it lifts the spirits of those around you. As John said in the quote above we need to win the battle within. Win your battle within by focusing on being the best that you can be every single day, and life yourself up, be your greatest fan and supporter (see wake up thoughts and affirmations blog for more).

2.      I do everything I can to make a positive impact on those around me. Another aspect of my spirituality comes from lifting others up around me. If you really want to feel good about yourself, give of yourself. My goal to positively impact the lives of millions of people worldwide is totally selfish and ego driven. That’s right I am selfish, I love the feeling I get when other people are positively impacted by my life, my words, my actions and my deeds. I love to see the comments on my blog posts where you enjoy my words, I love to walk off stage and get a compliment, I love it when I get hugs from my wife and children for good deeds I have done, it lifts my “SPIRIT” and it makes me feel good about myself. So you see I am totally selfish! I want people to love me, to believe in me, to lift me up! So I do everything I can to lift others up, to positively impact them in some way. If you want to live a more spiritual life, lift people up, all the time, it is as simple as telling someone you are proud of them, or that they look nice. People need it; we all need to feel good about ourselves and little compliments are the fuel for our tanks. Peoples tanks need to be filled every single day. This is a harsh and hard world we live in, do your part to positively impact people, lift them up and you will be lifted.

3.      I constantly focus on my “WHY”. Part of my spirituality comes from my why. If you have a purpose in your life, a greater vision for why you wake up in the morning and you constantly are working toward it you will feel a greater “SPIRIT”. Do you know why you are doing what you are doing, is it for money, is it for power, is it to feel good about yourself, WHY do you do what you do. What pushes you, what makes you want to be better?  If you know why you are doing what you are doing and you focus your life on it, you will feel a greater sense of hope for the future and you will be a happier person. To discover your why, you have to take time away from the busyness of your life and think. In 2004 I took time away from my busyness and I strted writing in a notebook about why I wanted so much from life and it was a huge self discovery time for me. I came up with my why, I will share part of it with you here, what I believe is the most important part:

I want to positively impact the lives of everyone I touch especially those whom I love the most. I want my family to be proud of who I am.

If you want to see the rest of it, email me and I will send it to you. If you will take time away and put some intense thought into your why, it can change your life. I have my why laminated and I keep copies of it everywhere.  I constantly look at it to remind myself of what is important, and why it is important for me to do great things.  By remembering why you are doing the things you are doing, you will find yourself living your life more spiritually.

Well, that’s it for now. Again, this may seem elementary to you, but not to me. I am constantly staying focused on these things and I know that I am affecting my life. I have an intense connection to my spirituality, and when things get tough and I start to throw a pity party, or I start to get down I can turn things around by remembering that I am good, by remembering that my God loves me, by remembering that I am a strong, spiritual person that really does want to make a difference and it lifts my “SPIRIT”, I hope I have lifted yours! Have an awesome day….cg

Leaders Sacrifice

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Leaders who want to rise have to do more than [be willing to] take an occasional cut in pay. They have to give up their rights…That’s true of every leader regardless of profession. Talk to any leader, and you will find that he has made repeated sacrifices. Usually, the higher that leader has climbed, the greater sacrifices he has made. Effective leaders sacrifice much that is good in order to dedicate themselves to what is best…      John Maxwell-“The Law of Sacrifice”

Leadership always has a cost. Are you willing to sacrifice to succeed?

DIG DEEP and STAY POSITIVE!

Monday, October 13th, 2008

DIG DEEP and STAY POSITIVE! That is the message I send to you today. There has been no better time in history to strengthen your energy and your mindset than right now. With all of the unease, anxiety, fear, worry and mystery that is our national psyche right now, you can make a difference. You can make a positive impact on every single person that you touch by being a positive light in their day. The way that I want to live my life is to be a positive energy source for everyone I come into contact with. I also want to be a great role model and leader to others and I can do that by working hard. I am doing my part to make sure the economy keeps moving, I AM SELLING HOMES! I am working hard in my own business and working hard on my mind to strengthen it, and keep the most positive outlook that I can, after all, I am alive, I have a great family and I have great friends. We cannot let fear overtake us. Here are three strategies for you to stay positive:

1.       Utilize a Wake Up Thought- We all are having conversations with ourselves all of the time, we need to start controlling those conversations. In order to strengthen your mindset you must wake up right and immediately put a great thought into your head, it is your wake up thought. You have to teach yourself to think this thought every morning first thing. Make it a positive and affirming statement, mine is this-“It is an awesome day and I will positively impact the lives of everyone I touch today.” It is a beautiful way for me to wake up and get excited about the opportunities in front of me. Your wake up thought is going to get you on the right track and then you back it up with my next strategy…

2.       Affirmations- Now is when we tell ourselves what a great person we are. For me this is usually done in the car, but I have my affirmations all around me and laminated. I have a copy in the closet, above the visor in my car, behind my desk, and in my shower. By putting them everywhere in my life I never forget to say them to myself. To affirm means to make firm, to strengthen, and that is what you do every time you utilize your affirmations, you flex the muscles in your mind and you beef up your self confidence. You want to make sure that even when you are down you use these to pull you out of the doldrums. Say to yourself right now, “I like Myself, I am an awesome person, I am in control of my future, if I must doubt something I will doubt my limits, I am the best person I can be, I am positive and enthusiastic, I am a leader!” If you are sitting there wondering if I am crazy, telling yourself there is no way you will do this, change your mind. Affirming myself and fortifying my attitude has paid big time for me. I am now constantly throughout the day repeating to myself over and over-“I am the best at what I do.” Try it, you will like it. My third strategy is this…

3.       Fill your head with the greatest thoughts- I am a passionate personal growth junkie. I love to read, listen to learning CD’s in my car, and attend seminars. I think that in order to stay positive in this turbulent time you need to shut off the tv, don’t watch the news (that’s all negative!), quit looking at your stocks, get involved and focused on personal growth. I feel like we should be reading something inspirational at least 30 minutes a day (reading this counts by the way), making our car our university (I believe that we must always have learning cd’s in our cars, no music), and I believe we need at least 2 great seminars a year. Your attention to this detail in your life may be the single biggest factor in your failure or success. I know that my personal growth plan has been instrumental for me.

We are in one of the strangest and most concerning times financially in the history of our country, but we do not need to let ourselves get down. We can be the positive shining light and be different by choosing to DIG DEEP and STAY POSITIVE! You can change your life by changing your mind. Utilize the strategies outlined here, get around other positive motivated people and you will come through this tough time stronger and more solid than ever before. What an awesome opportunity!

Be a Momentum Creator in your business!

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Sales slowed a bit for you? Feel like you have nothing going on? Waiting for that next lead to jump out and throw money in your lap? Getting a bit negative in your attitude? Time to quit whining and start winning! Goldwasser Real Estate is a different kind of company. We are a company that builds on momentum and energy. If you feel like you are in a rut it is time to get out and do something about it. Do not expect anyone else to do it for you-YOUR FUTURE IS IN YOUR HANDS! People often ask me how I can be consistent and make things happen, make sales happen. I have one solution for you-WORK! There is no magic pill that I know but hard and focused work. If you are finding yourself slow, look at your hourly, daily, and weekly agenda. What are you doing with your time? Take that question very seriously right now and ask yourself, am I being productive and effective? Am I doing activities that will lead me to success or am I wasting a lot of time? Imagine taking your days and putting them up on a movie screen for all of us to watch, what would we see? Would you be embarrassed or proud? If you want to be successful you must learn how to create positive momentum in your life and in your business. Here are some tips for you that I use to make it happen for my business:

1.        I realize that I am in charge of my momentum-

Leaders take charge of their lives and they realize that there is no one else that is going to do it for them. I have found that I am the one person that is most interested in my success. No one else is as interested in me becoming all that I can be than me. No one else will do it for me. I am the only one that is totally involved and totally focused on my income and my sales. If nothing is going on it is because I am not doing what I need to be doing. If you are part of a team even then you must make things happen. Realize, you are the one in charge of your future. Say this with me now, “I am in control of my future!”

2.       Do something- or do a lot of things!

Last week I found myself slow and I listened to a friend of mine talk to me about “Gimmicks” to increase sales. I realized I do not need any gimmicks I just need to do what I am supposed to be doing (prospecting, calling my Sphere of Influence, networking, previewing homes, open houses). I immediately got on the phones and started calling for sale by owners, I set 1 appt after making 30 calls. Yes! The next day (Friday) I went out and previewed 11 homes so I knew the inventory for the open house I was holding on Saturday. I then came back to the office and got on the phones for 2 1/2 hours. When I got back to the office, one of my Sphere calls produced a lead for a listing. Then I got another appointment from a FSBO. Then as I was on the phone calling my cell rang and it was the owner of one of the homes I previewed that morning. She had never heard of my company, but she wanted to talk with me about listing her home. I listed her home Monday morning-$375k, and her Fiancé is going to list with me as well-$230k, and she has a rental she wants me to sell-about $300k. The next day I held my open house from 1-4pm and I had 2 people through-one of them Barry need to list his house-about $300k. My point, do something, do a lot of things. Get out, get in front of people, and get on the phones to start prospecting. No sales are made by surfing the internet or hoping.

3.       Be enthusiastic at all times!

How is your energy? Are you dragging others down with your negativity? Get excited and quit listening to the nasty news of the world. Start brainwashing yourself every day with great and positive thoughts. People need it right now. If you can be a 10,000 megawatt ball of energy and enthusiasm people will be drawn to you. Be different, and do not be afraid. Wake up every day and start your day with a positive thought, train yourself to think it first thing in the morning. Here is my wake up thought,”It is an awesome day, and I will positively impact the lives of everyone I touch.” I then follow that up with positive affirmations and I am constantly throughout the day, cleansing my brain of all negativity.

4.       Do not whine and complain-

Whining and complaining will get you nowhere.  Remember, there is no one more responsible for your situation than you. If you got yourself in a rut, you can get yourself out. Whining and complaining about your life and your situation will do nothing but feed the negativity and push you further into nothingness. Learn to look in the mirror and ask yourself, “Why am I in this position? What more could I be doing.

And last but not least….

5.       Do what is right no matter what-

If you want to be a momentum creator, and build your sales career, you have got to have integrity in everything you do. When you are always doing the right thing, everything will start to go your way. When you do the right things you will feel better about yourself and you will see a massive difference in your business.

I hope this helps you. It is time to create some momentum in our businesses. Will you commit and make it happen? You can do it. I believe in you all. Leaders create momentum!
