It’s more than just your thoughts!
Monday, August 17th, 2009It’s not just about your thoughts, and words, it is about being the healthiest person you can be!
We spend a lot of time at GRE talking about the benefits of filling your mind with great thoughts, setting goals and realizing the benefits of a healthy mindset. There is another aspect to this that I feel is equally as important and can make a massive impact on your overall satisfaction and success and that is your appearance. I am not just talking about your hair style, or the color of your nails, or the size of your biceps, I am talking about everything from your smile, to your shirt, to your odor, to what you put in your mouth on a daily basis. It is all important, and if you feel that you want to live your best life, and be in peak human form than you must pay attention to it all. The devil is in the details as they say. By paying attention to these details you will earn more money and live a longer more prosperous life.
So here are just of the few important things that I think we should all be aware of in our lives that will make an incredible difference for you when you pay attention to them:
1. Dress for success!-When you are dressed well it makes you feel better, it makes you more confident, it gives you an edge on the competition. I heard world famous sales trainer Brian Tracy say one time, “Dress the part!” He was saying that if you want to be successful than do not dress like the unsuccessful people, dress like you are worth a million dollars. Now I do not mean that you have to go out and spend all your money on clothes, but be aware of your appearance. At Goldwasser Real Estate, we have a dress code, no jeans (except Friday!), no t-shirts, no flip flops, but professional dress. Preferably a nice pair of pants and a good button down shirt for men, and for women appropriate dresses, skirts or suits. Also, remember to pay attention to the details, shirts are ironed, shoes are polished and clean, no missing buttons and the such. When I started dressing better, I started feeling better and overall it led to more confidence and in turn more sales! Dress for success!
2. Groom yourself well!-Now this has to be the most obvious one, but some people (not in my office of course) just do not keep themselves clean. Pay attention to the way you brush your teeth, floss regularly (ever seen someone that never flosses? Nasty!), use some form of mouthwash, wash your hair, clean your body, smell good, comb your hair and keep it trimmed (I know, I get dinged on this one once in a while!!!), pluck your eyebrows, clip your nose hair (ooooooohhhhh!), and make sure that you are always clean shaven. Have you ever had to talk with someone that has bad breath? Oh my gosh, it can be the kiss of death for a sale. Keep a toothbrush and a comb at your desk, pay attention to the details. Groom yourself well!
3. Feed yourself good stuff!-Are you eating right. Being a busy human sometimes leads to wrong eating. When you eat wrong it can lead to so many problems in your life, and I am not just talking about the obvious fact that you could become overweight, I am talking about serious health issues. You need to be getting the right foods in your body if you want it to work at its peak state. If you really want to live an amazing life you gotta start paying attention to what you are throwing down your face hole! You may want to really take a good look at the way you are eating, it could be bringing you down. Start looking at food as fuel for your body, and remember that a formula one race car would not use regular old unleaded, if you want to win the race you gotta use the right fuel and it is the same thing with your body, to win fuel it right. Also, I know I do not have to mention the fact that smoking can kill you. Not only that but it makes you stink, and for sales people, it can kill the sale for you. With alcohol, be careful, drink in moderation. Okay enough said. Feed yourself good stuff!
4. Get your body moving!-The benefits of exercise are incredible. When you can start adding exercise into your life, your world will change forever. I cannot tell you how great it feels to finish a solid workout and to know that you are getting stronger, more fit and looking better. Not only will you start looking better, but you can sharpen your focus while you workout and that is good for every aspect of your life. When you find yourself in the middle of a workout and you are wanting to quit, but you push through the pain and move to a new level, it is an unbelievable feeling. Start with a 1 mile walk, do some jumping jacks, some pushups, it does not matter just start somewhere and build it into your life. You may be thinking, but I am too busy, come on, please, get over yourself and get up a little earlier. Just do it! Get your body moving!
When you start looking at all of the aspects of your health and your appearance, and becoming more aware of what can make a difference in your life, you are going to start to soar. A healthy mind and an incredible mindset all ties back to these aspects of your overall care of your body. By focusing yourself and implementing these strategies in your life you will find a healthier body, mind and spirit! Here is to your health!

GOALS!!!!
Friday, August 14th, 2009I think that we can all agree that it is important to have goals in our lives. Working towards the true potential that we have within us means that we are striving to make things better for ourselves and for our families. We are striving to earn more money, have more balance, achieve more peace and grow as human beings. We can do that by setting worthwhile goals that excite us and that we put in front of us and that we take action towards. You will end up going wherever it is that you set your mind to. It is also very well known that when you write down a goal that your ability to achieve it increases immensely.
Yet most Americans do not write down their goals, why not? A lot of people I know have goals, but when I ask them do you have your goals written down, a good number of them tell me no. Here are some steps for you to achieve more of the goals that you want to achieve:
1. Determine what your goals are-Maybe you have not thought about this recently. One of the biggest hurdles that most people face is that they do not take time to really think about what they want to do. Or they stifle themselves by thinking that they have to set the perfect goal, that it must be noble and high falutent, or life changing. No do not stifle yourself, set some small goals and once you realize that you are hitting them, then move on to bigger and better things. My suggestion is start a brainstorm, take a little time away from the work of your world and think about what you would like to see in your life then take step #2.
2. Write down your GOAL!-This is key. Do you have your goals written down? If not consider this excerpt: In the book What They Don’t Teach You in the Harvard Business School, Mark McCormack tells a study conducted on students in the 1979 Harvard MBA program. In that year, the students were asked, “Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?” Only three percent of the graduates had written goals and plans; 13 percent had goals, but they were not in writing; and a whopping 84 percent had no specific goals at all. Ten years later, the members of the class were interviewed again, and the findings, while somewhat predictable, were nonetheless astonishing. The 13 percent of the class who had goals were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84 percent who had no goals at all. And what about the three percent who had clear, written goals? They were earning, on average, ten times as much as the other 97 percent put together.
Get it? Write them down, now!
3. KEEP THEM IN FRONT OF YOU!-If you want to really turbo charge your career and ignite success in your life, KEEP THOSE GOALS IN FRONT OF YOU ALWAYS! I like to have mine laminated and I keep a copy of them in my shower, above the visor in my car, at my desk in my office, in my closet, so that I can see them every single day, many times over the course of the day to remind myself of where I am looking to go. Get those goals in your head, deep down inside, and create an emotion that every time you look at the goal you get excited! You want to have an emotional buzz, every time that you see that goal and think about achieving it.
4. Finally, SHARE YOUR GOALS!-Let the other people in your life know what your goals are, and ask them about theirs. Maybe they will help you achieve yours and maybe you can help them. get your goals out in the universe and watch them manifest themselves in your life.
Okay, I know you got it, so go write them down, take the steps and watch your career and your life move to the next level, I know you can do it! There are no limits!
